The Gear
My first Canon camera was a compact, the Canon S2 IS, given to my by my wife for our first Christmas together. That was the beginning of my journey in to the world of photography.
I now shoot with a Canon 450D, my first DSLR.
My first non-kit lens was the Canon 50mm 1.8f. This is definitely one of my favorite lenses. My wife bought it for an anniversary gift to replace my broken 18-55mm kit lens. shot with it nearly exclusively for a year. Although it was inexpensive, it is an amazing lens.
Next is my newest lens, the Canon 17-55mm 2.8f IS USM. It is worth more that all my camera gear put together (including the camera). It is amazing! A little heave but worth the price.
The there is my Canon 75-300mm 4-5.6f III USM lens. Not much to say about this lens as I rarely use it. It is cheap and the images are low quality. I use this lens for fun sometimes but I rarely need that focal length. Some day it will hopefully get replaces with one of the Canon 70-200mm 2.8f lenses.
I have a small camera bag that I use when I only take 50mm prime. This makes for a real light trip which I enjoy. For the more serious stuff I take my Canon bag that my wife bought for me for another Christmas gift.
I also have a few filters and a soft-box that I play with from time to time. I hope to make my next purchase a Canon flash 430ex ii.
Of course when I forget all that at home I still have my Blackberry as a backup.
