Locomotive
We took a ride on this train pulled by Locomotive 2141.
The kids had fun and I enjoyed the history of the train, our town and the Bill Miner Gang.
I like to learn about the history of our own town, it’s kind of like being a tourist at home.
Lonely Night
A evening shot of the moon up at Sunpeaks.
It was a smoky day because of all the fires in the province.
Fresh Fruit
I love walking through the farmers market.
Even if I have nothing to buy I like to see the people selling there fresh produce.
This shot was during closing, this seller was picking out the best and
handing a few of samples to people near by.
Sticks and Stones
Not sure what these sticks and stones are for,
but would make a great spot for three hammocks.
Smoky Mountain
During the summers it is not unusual for our town to be filled with smoke of nearby fires.
This afternoon I took advantage of it to practices smoke or fog photography.
I have been wanting to try some low contrast photos for a while and today was perfect for it.
Nature in Town
This is a little piece of nature in the middle of town.
It is a place where we like to take the kids for walks and to see the ducks.
Mushroom World
To me this looks like a little world
where you would expect little people
to come walk out from under the mushrooms.
Golden Summer
I love all the colors of summer.
A friend and I wondered through town.
I was expecting to get a photo of a grungy downtown street.
Instead we turned a corner and found this little flower garden.
Black and White Daisies
Here are some daisies I found while looking for a flowering cactus.
Pedal Power
I saw these bikes out while driving around downtown one day.
I came back to them over and over trying to get the right light and no people.
Finally I got my chance but I could not get the photo to turn out quit right with my only lens, a 50mm.
I think a wide angle could have done the trick but I don’t have one right now.
So some photo editing was done to help add to the photo a feeling of times long ago,
when there were only one speed pedal bikes.
I love these bikes because it reminds me of my first bike and learning to ride.
Let’s Go To Elko
Where’s Elko you ask?
Not sure, all I know is you get there by train.
Horticulture Garden
One of the best parts of working at the University, is all the gardens, plants, and flowers.
The horticultural department school has a beautiful garden behind their building.
Many times wedding photos are booked there.
My favorite place is this pond which has many different flowers coming and leaving throughout the spring, summer and fall.
A Sign Of Spring
I had no plans of taking flower photos this last weekend.
Trees were covered in flowers more that I imagined and I could not resist taking a couple.
In the end the flower pictures turned out to be my favorite so I thought I would share them.
Cars, Trucks And Proud Owners
Last Sunday I got stuck behind a parade of old cars and trucks. Not sure where they were going I turned off and went to the park to see what I could take photos of. At one of the entrances to the park I saw camera men were setup with a crowd of people behind. So I parked and went to their location since there was still lots of room and I figured they would pick a prime location.
Guess who shows up? The parade that I was following earlier. After photographing about 70 old vehicles pulling in, I went and wondered through the show. There were some awesome cars there but my favorite photo of was of this man, I assume the proud owner of the truck. Once he noticed me take this shot, he posed for another shot. I thanked him and continued on.
Reflections On The Court
The sky was clearing up and the sun was coming out.
Then out of nowhere came rain and hail.
I ran back about four blocks and all the way through the park.
Finally when I was close to my car it stopped and I managed to get this shot.
Just goes to show: rain, hail or snow there is always something interesting to see.
Tree Of Arrows
Here is two photos of a strange type of decorative tree which I drive pass every day.
The bunches berries are nearly black with just a hint of red.
What I like best is the curves and arrow like ends created by the berries.
I posted these in black in white to show the shape and lines.
Waiting For A Lake Day
It is starting to warm up outside.
Tonight after looking at this picture from last summer I am excited for trips to the lake.
Flower or Weed
I am quite sure this was a flower at one time but now just a big blue ball of seeds.
It was taken last fall in a garden at the university.
Pot of Purple Flowers
Photo of flowers at my moms house.
A little photo editing was done here as the flowers where actually yellow.
Everything else (background and plant) was colorized to a dark grayish green.
Old Wooden Fence
Here is a wooden fence running a long a creek that was created for spawning fish at Logan Lake. The lake is filled with rainbow trout and when I was walking around the lake there were a couple of men ice fishing on it.
Logan Lake
Here is a photo taken at logan lake just recently. I thought it looked good in blue.
It makes it look cold, dark and lonely but really I was standing in the parking lot of there little mall.
Ice Fishing
From my ice fishing trip to Red Lake this last December. Here is the photo of Dad and a friend drilling holes into the ice.
Red Lake
While out ice fishing this past week I took this photo of a foggy Red Lake.
