While out ice fishing this past week I took this photo of a foggy Red Lake.

Fresh Roasted Coffee

There is a little coffee shop in town that roast there own coffee beans. They even sell it in some local grocery stores. I like the place because it is right downtown (our small downtown with a main street of only four or five blocks), everything in it is old fashion, and on Sunday afternoons I can read a book there while my wife and daughter take a nap.

This last Sunday I took the both of them there. My wife and I had a hot drink while my daughter ate a shortbread cookie. Here are three photos I took.

Chinese Cemetery

Here are couple of photos I took of a Chinese cemetery in town. Thousands of Chinese where brought here to build the railway back in the late 1800′s. A few of them settled here. This cemetery had great view of the city. most of that view is now blocked by houses.

Where I Live

city50hdrHere is a photo of where I live, surrounded by tumble weed, cactus and dry grass. It is very dry and brown during the summer but that is what makes our city unique. This photo taken from the university were I work looking down on the lower part of the city.

No Bridges

posts

Just the remainders of an old bridge in the background and some posts of a dock in the foreground. Long ago there were actually two bridges (as far as I know). One was wood and the other concrete. Only the concrete pillars still remain.

This was an early morning shot in mid-Fall. It was kind of chilly out but a great morning for photos. This was my favourite of that day.

Old Truck

truck

I came across this old truck on the drive home one day. So early on a Saturday morning I went out and took the picture. It was in the middle of a field on the edge of town so I used my 300mm lens. I wanted to get it in the morning so that the sun was shining on it and the building.

I love old trucks. I think it is all the metal that they are made of that I like. I love the old dash boards, no plastic!

Fall At The Dock

docks

One fall morning down at the river I took this photo. It was not the photo I went to take infact I never even knew you could see the dock from there. As I was photographing our bridge I could see the white boat standing out. I thought it looked good with the yellow fall colors.

Maple Leaf

mapleleaf

Red maple leafs. Another photo of a Canadian fall. When I was a child, we had a big maple tree in our back yard. It was my favorite tree, not only because we could climb it, but also because of its colorful leaves.

I also remeber pressing the leaves in the Sears catalog. Most of the time we would for get about it. Then at some odd time of the year we would find the catalog with a bright flat dried maple leaf.

Fall Time

falltime

There is a time and a season for everything and now it is time for fall. No more hot sunny days, bright colored flowers or children splashing in the water.

Fall brings with it it’s own kind of beauty. As a child it was so easy to miss. Only short dark cold days ahead.

Now that I am older I see that the end of one season only means the begining of another. Past seasons become memories and the currents season an opertunity to enjoy life as it is.

Pine Beetle Tree

IMG_3865This photo was taken leaving my brothers house. Lots of his trees where hit by the pine beetle. Some of the trees are starting to come back but many had to be taken down.

This one was standing out against a colorful fall sunset. It seemed as if it was standing alone on the hill.

Home of the Leprechaun

IMG_3678Ever wonder where the Leprechaun lives? Found his house under the rainbow on the drive home after work.

Red Shoe

Red Shoe

This first thing that comes to mind when I see this photo is my Sister Twyla. The red shoe has her name written all over it.

She is the person you see standing in the crowd with the crazy purse or shoes. Her and my wife should go in to business together selling shoes and purses.

It was a long 2 hour hike up hill and it felt like it was never going to end. I have been up other hills and cliffs before but this one differently had one of the best views. Here are some of the photos to prove that I live in the most beautiful place in the world.

My co-workers created this Geocache and named it “Falling Short” as they have hiked it many times after work but could never quite reach the view before dark. After we wondered all over the bush, we finally reached it, sat down and took in the view. We lost track of time and did not head back until nearly sunset which made coming down the steep slows difficult. We made it back however despite the fact we nearly lost Duke the dog several times and thought we were being chanced by a moose.
