I had a photo that was way over exposed. I accidentally left the wrong setting on the camera after three shots I changed the settings but her best posses where the first three pictures. So I never posted them. This time I thought of trying to using gimps threshold to do a black and white but thought I would kind of mimic the effect by converting to black and white then upping the contrast a lot and also moving the dark end up to the midtones so that I could get more of the detail by darking it a lot. I tried some sharping but kind of liked the soft look so I left it as it was. I used a gimp plugin to create some grain and then I colorized it a very little to add a tiny bit of brown in. there were a couple of people just in front of her eyes, they they made nice silhouettes but where distracting so I cloned them out.

Sounds like more work than it was, it was actually just playing around with the photo. In the end I thought it was presentable and it was a photo I really wished turned out correctly in the first place to show off.

Good reactions — their faces are saying a lot.
Just a thought... You could elevate them a little on a stage so that you don't have the moulding and carpet in the frame.

Thanks. Was playing with some HDR software. The original photo looked kind of boring because the lighting wasn't very good. Kind of cloudy and not much color. Your right it, I tried to make it look kind of dark and scary. Actually my work place used to be a jail and between me and this court house was where hangings took place so I guess a eerie look to it is somewhat appropriate.
